A Samsung Note9 was purchased in Germany to be used in South Africa.

1) What warranty will apply?

2) Are there support centres in South Africa to take the phone to, for repairs?

3) Can Samsung care be bought and supported in South Africa?

Hi @leapingfrog

It would be beneficial to check if the Samsung phone was purchased directly from Samsung in Germany or if it was purchased from another reseller.

If directly from Samsung then please check the Small Print on their site to check what is covered under the manufacturer's warranty.

For example this is mine in the UK Samsung warranty Uk

Check the small print about phones being bought in Europe

i.e. " Consumers who are using a product in a country in the European Economic Area and Switzerland (“Europe”) which was first purchased in another country in Europe can obtain warranty services. The period of the warranty and the warranty service provided will be those of the country in Europe where the warranty claim is made. "

These pages will then also advise where you can get support from in regards to if the phone needs to be looked at.

In regards to buying care this would usually be purchased from an insurance company that specialises in such insurances for mobiles and or some Contents Insurance policies can cover phones as well as some Bank Accounts give cover as a perk of the account.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "
