@NobbyNoteNine: If you head to Settings > Notifications > Advanced settings > Status bar > Show notification icons, and select 'None' then the flashing microphone icon won't be visible while you're using the Voice Recorder app. If you rely on the Status Bar for app notifications, please make sure to re-enable your previous Status Bar settings after you've finished recording.
