terible battery life after 3.0 update

is nobody testing the updates before being released or what?
I'm facing a reduction in batery life by 50% compared to before the 3.0 update, and it was awful to beging with.
Also I hope Samsung is looking into this: we need a power saving mode to limit the CPU to 70% and have the high refresh rate at the same time.
I bought the note 20 ultra for the 120hz screen but don't force me to decide between smoothnes and the ability to actually use my phone more than 3 hours

I have the S20 Ultra and the One UI 3.0 update caused me all manner of issues to start with, including poor battery life. I decided to take the pain of a factory reset and since then it's like a new phone. Stable with great battery. so far today I have had 16 hours 25 minutes with 5 hours 20 of screen on time and still have almost 5 hours left. Not the ideal situation having to start over, but well worth the effort.

I would suggest to clear your system files cache first @raymon92 before a factory reset which is angood idea by @GalaxyMac  👍

Also a compromise maybe in this thread … androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-20-note-20-ultra/1008831-note-20-ultra-has-secret-96hz-displa...

Clear your phone's System Cache Files by turning your phone Off and then from a set series of button presses go into the phone's System Files and clear the cache. No information is lost this way. You may need to insert your headphones or hook upto a computer with your data cable to get to this menu on the phone.

I wish you all the best with this.

I've done all that, please don't waste you time with beginners solutions.
I don't get it, When I post on any other forum or community like OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi, people are actually giving solutions that actually work, here in Samsung Members there's always a Samsung defender to say it's your fault, not Samsung's.
I'm baffled 🙄

My apologies if you've “ done all that ” and I wouldn't have suggested these options if you had perhaps mentioned so in your opening post.

Let me assure you I'm not here in my own personal private time to waste anybodies time.

I can't see where it's been suggested that it's your fault.

Unfortunately there isn't always a solution to be found on forums and as such Samsung have the Samsung Members app to report bugs and Samsung Experience Stores and Samsung Service Centres to provide practical hands on support.

Have a great day @raymon92

now I understand why nobody uses this "Members" app and users go on xda or reddit to see if anyone else has the same problem: they're hit with corporate answers and made to feel that it's only their phone and should go to service centre and bla bla bla.. 👏

Can't you see that everyone is reporting battery drain after the new update?
If you say you're not in you personal time here, maybe tell samsung to do something about it and I'm gonna tell you what: let us have power saving (limiting CPU to 70%) and have the high refresh rate at the same time (I'm keeping mine at 96hz) - we had that option with bixby routines on One UI 2.5 but it's been removed

Hi @raymon92 ,

Appreciate that you’re miffed, but not much point in snapping at people who’re just offering to help. 😉

It’s a truism that even the very wise can miss simple stuff or have logic bypasses occasionally, so offering basic advice isn’t a bad thing. Plus, not everyone has the same level of expertise, so even if it's not useful in a specific instance, the advice given might be useful to someone else reading.

Speaking of which... any info/screenshots of your battery usage stats that show the things that are caning your battery? Reckon putting it out there would be useful for comparison with other users experiencing the same issue. 🤔

Anything draining your battery now that wasn’t doing so before? Or just the same things as before but more?

And which network is your Note20 Ultra on?

Also, sending error reports with good descriptions and system log files via the Members app as soon as you notice an issue gives the developers relevant stuff to analyse. (Long-press the Samsung Members icon; select Error reports from the dropdown menu; select and fill as applicable; make sure 'Send system log data' is ticked; and send.) More of those that the developers receive on an issue the better.
