Speaker/Microphone/echo issues in Galaxy Note 20/Ultra after the latest Android Update

I purchased my Galaxy Note 20 towards the end of November,2020. I setup the phone, updated Android to its latest release (1-Nov-2020) and started exploring various features. Everything looked good until I put it on speakerphone during a Whatsapp call. The caller mentioned that she keeps hearing an echo. Sometimes it's a repeat of what the caller says and other times it's random static sounds. I then tested various scenarios to isolate the issue. 

The issue happens especially with third-party apps such as Whatsapp/DUO and when using the speakerphone. Very rarely,  it happens with regular voice calls too. And the echo intensifies when the phone is held in hand or close to the body. The device has three microphones but the one on the bottom seems to be culprit. When I block it with hand, the echo disappears. But of course, the caller doesn't hear my voice too. 

I returned the device and got a replacement but the same issue happened on the second device too. 

That's when I did further research and realized that it must be a software issue rather than a hardware issue. Based on other stories, looks like the latest Android update caused the issue. 

Hope Samsung quickly releases a patch for this. It's a disgrace that a device that beats competitors in most aspects doesn't get its basics right.

Me and 3 of my friends have the same issue. I hope we get an update to resolve this issue.

When did you first notice the issue? Did it exist from the beginning or after the latest software update ?

I bought my Note 20 Ultra also in November 2020 and having the same problem.

It seems like a software issue since it gets resolved after restarting the device.

Is a kind of issue not compatible with a top-notch Samsung smartphone.

Very disappointed!

Has anyone confirmed it is a software issue?  I'm about ready to demand a new phone from Samsung if this is hardware.  I am not happy about paying full price to have crappy calls this frequently!  Last Samsung phone for sure.

I am having the same issue. however I've had my fone since september but this problem started after recent software update. I didn't have this issue before.

I have the same echo issue too, specially during video calls.

I am so disappointed with new products of Samsung the note 20 ultra 5G and the watch active 2.

My watch active 2 started going crazy. The touch screen stopped working and goes  through apps and menu by itself and vibrates all the time... SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!+

I am going through the similar problem !! When FB video calling there's an annoying echo-ring on my end through to the other person's end and it loops back. No matter if I take off phone case, lay the phone flat down, or reinstall the app. It is FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!
