Samsung notes app, background draining battery

Crazy battery drain by the Samsung notes app running in the background draining battery terribly, since the new update one UI 3.0 I can't even put the app to sleep or deep sleep... any help or suggestions??, is anyone else experiencing the same problem??

I've noticed this too on my Tab 8 plus. Was on a call this morning for about 1.5 hours taking notes and it drained my battery from 100 to 60%. That's not good for when I need to take notes all day. 

Anyone have a solution to this?
