I pre-ordered my phone last year and lived with the default notifications since then.  I finally figured out how to choose different notification sounds for different apps today after searching through the forums here.

Tap Settings > Notifications > Tap the app icon > Notifications > Sound* and choose the sound

Different apps has different ways to change, e.g for whatsapp choose Message Notifications/Group Notifications and pick the sound you want. Others can't be changed (it seems).

The below pics are for "Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G" phones:

First - Tap NotificationsFirst - Tap NotificationsSecond - Tap the App to change soundSecond - Tap the App to change soundThird - Tap NotificationsThird - Tap NotificationsFourth - Choose Alert radio button then Tap SoundFourth - Choose Alert radio button then Tap SoundFifth - choose your app sound and exitFifth - choose your app sound and exit

my friend, you bought the wrong phone 😅 Xiaomi Mi Note10 and others from 10 series, allow a separate sound for notification for each app....as if anyone can tell 400 different sounds apart.
I would search for a 3rd party app, maybe even some APKs.
Putting that aside, this phone needs few more years and 100updates to fix all problems, again Xiaomi does that better, even tho their phones are somewhat worse quality.

Thanks for the recommendations!  Truth be told my last android was Moto G Play. Awesome phone that conked out on me. I looked for the Note10 but it was out of stock 😑 so I ended up pre-ordering. So far I like/really like this phone. The only thing I would change is to re-implement the expansion slot...but I heard they did that with the Ultra for $400 more of your hard-earned dollars.

No app necessary to change notifications tunes. It's there already - you just have to dig for it.  The reason I posted is because most of the solutions on here is for the S20. This is helpful for the Note20 owners.

well, i can't have different notification sounds for apps on S20 Ultra,
but i can on all of my other phones;
so it is just one sound for all notifications/apps, but if i open facebook for example then it will have it's own sound, but only as long the app is running, and if someone sends me a message on messenger i get the default notification sound i set for all apps.
And that slot for SIM and SD cards....that is on a different level, i have never seen anything like that, it goes as deep or almost, as the lower edge of the cameras unit, it's just very long.
