Samsung Note 20 Ultra Battery draining

Hi,

I urge Samsung to do something about the Samsung Note 20 Ultra battery drain. There is evidently a problem, I have low usage, no gaming, and the phone doesn't make it to the day, can't imagine when I need to travel using the GPS, or one day watching a long video. Having done all the optimisation, killing background apps etc, still the battery drains. Same usage with other mobiles give me far more battery left. I've spent a fortune to get "the best" and I feel this is not worth. Samsung, please do something about it or I'll be returning the phone very soon.

Customer service just gaves me generic advice and nothing conclusive.

I hope that if more people complains, the better.

Thanks.

Are you using the Exynos or Snapdragon variant @JonCM  ?

I would get a Samsung A series phone if u return ur Note 20. Cheaper but much better battery life and not too much of a difference in camera, software etc. Samsung A51 5g, A71, or A42 5g are probably best A series phones

Ok @JonCM

How long have you owned the phone also please  ?

Can you run the phone for a full cycle and screen shot the stats in device care and battery and upload it in your thread, remembering to scroll capture to include all the apps being used.

I asked about Exynos because some have reported that their phone has given a poorer than expected usage time even when using Safe Mode.

Some have reported that using Smartswitch to swap info from one phone to another.

You can see what version of N20 Ultra I use now as listed in my signature below.

The Exynos version I was using had it's own issues, although admittedly with signal.

It's difficult to troubleshoot and pinpoint as we all set up our phone's differently and have different usage habits.

May I ask what Samsung have had you do thus far with troubleshooting  ?

Thanks Maria, but the Note has the S Pen, and a great size screen, ideal for Onenote. However with the battery issue, I might have to reconsider.....

Hi BOB, I've had it for 5 days now, and I did use the Smart switch for the changeover from my previous device. Re the troubleshooting from Samsung, the typical, using the Device Care and optimisation of apps, limiting running ups in the background, and general/generic information about use of screen and apps in general.

I don't believe my case is an isolated one, there seems to be many with the same problem. I just hope that Samsung issues a software update/patch to do something about it.

Thanks

I found the battery life of the Exynos N20U awful the first 7 to 10 days whilst it is "learning" your usage. I initially set up the phone from a Samsung backup but then decided to reset it up from scratch and deleted the system cache after the first update. I also did a lot of generic tuning. With the last two updates my subjective experience is that battery life has improved considerably. But I also use an M51 now for the times I need a really solid battery life. Hope this helps!

You can buy interactive pens tho that work across all devices, my mum has one which she usually uses for marking on her work ipad, but she lets me use it to do drawing on my phone (Samsung Galaxy A51 5g). I understand what you mean about screen size though 😊 The screen size on the A series is perfect for me tho, Im not too big a fan of too big phones 😅

Hi Jerry,

I used a backup from a Xiaomi, maybe that didn't help, but I used Smart Switch, at the end of the day, the apps get re-downloaded from Play, I've disabled the 120hz, low brightness, uninstalled many apps, killed all the background ones etc. The fact that I have to spend so much time trying to keep the battery alive, and that's not even gaming or watching movies, o my reading, the day I need more use, I do need to plug it during the day. The frustration is the £1,100 I paid for "the best" device on the market, and having to do things I've never had to with other devices half price that or less. The fact that toy still use other device when you need "solid battery" proves the point.

Thanks.
