Hi Paul, It all depends on what you are trying to shoot, unfortunately the thing is with any mobile phone camera is that their zoom capabilities are very limited, in fact they do not really have true zoom like lets say a DSLR camera, in essence by zooming in you are actually cropping in to the pixels and consequently reducing the the picture quality the further you zoom/crop.
0.5x 1.0x is probably the Notes best zoom sweet spot.
With any mobile camera your best shot would be without any zoom.
There is however settings that can help you get the best out of your camera.
If you press more or slide to the more option within your camera app then an camera option page should display. (I've included a screen shot👇)
There you can choose to enter your cameras pro modes, preset modes and so on.
I would recommend using grid lines to line up your pictures. For the best quality images try reducing your picture ratio too.
