Using Note 10 plus to record music mix

Hi all

Thank you for taking time reading this I have a mixing deck for my PC it had red and white RCA out I want to use my note 10 to record a set and also to stream good audio using facebook live any ideas what cables I would need? Doing some research I'm looking at these but before I order just want to see if anyone else had any other ideas. A little confused due to no headphone jack.

I am looking for the same information, all I want to do is record audio on my Note 10 from an external line or microphone input.   I need the ability for the Source Audio to be either TRS 35mm or RCA input (such as from either a mixing board or from a portable wireless headset).   

I also need to know how to control it from within Android OS.  Do you need an App?  Is this built in?  How should you set or configure USB on the Note?    Is there a way to disable the built in microphone?  For live streaming is there a way to use both (Line Input and Built In)? 

I've spent a small fortune on various USB-C  to 35.mm cables and adapters from TRRS to TRS and made sure I am using a USB-C   with DAC.    I'm not opposed to having a converter box of sorts either,  something that could output to my Note 10 or to a lightning if someo wanted to borrow it.    

I"ve been researching for weeks and just can't find  a solution.   So anything who has done this succesfully please share.  Thank you!

I had been meaning to update this thread with my two major findings. 

Not all 3.5Mm (or 1/8 " as we used to say back in the day) jacks and adapters are equal

When you look at the variety of  male adapters you have TS, TRS and TRRS.  This site explains it well https://www.cablechick.com.au/blog/understanding-trrs-and-audio-jacks/

• Think of TS as mono
• Think of TRS as a standard stereo headphone with  3 wires (Left, right common).
• Think of TRRS as 4 wires (left, right, common, input)

When you look for someting to convert that 4th Input channel to a standard 3 wire connecter, you will need a TRS to TRRS Microphone Adapter (not just any old TRS to TRRS converter will work).   This is the one I purchased which works GREAT https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N9CJDVE .    So now you have the TRRS Male Audio converted down to a standard 1/8" (I mean 3.5mm TRS) female connection.   You can run a 1/8" male to male to connect to an audio source.  You could get an 1/8" stero male jack to RCA Female which would work to run a standard RCA Cable between a mixing board and your phone.    

PS:  That same TRS to TRRS Microphone adapter works with iOS and their Lightning adapter.

You'll ALSO need a USB-C to 3.5 Mm cable that says it supports DAC

You'll use this to connect your TRRS adapter into your phone.  The fact that it accepts DAC is important otherwise the phone still won't recognize the audio source.   The Samsung version supports it (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VF6NSZZ) but i've been more succesful with the same cable from another manufacturer here  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PQP7719

Good luck! Using the cables mentioned I was able to succesfully connect my phone and record audio from an external audio source.   If you are like me, you might wonder if the phone's internal microphone will pick up external audio --- it won't when the cable is connected it will only record audio from the cable (nothing external).  I could  not find audio sources or settings on the phone to chose a mixture of external vs internal microphone either.  If you want to record surroundings, unplug the cable.

Hi !

I followed what TImezup said but the phone mic is still on and when i want to make a facebook live nothing works.

The path is the following: Mixer trough record in / rca to Jack 3,5 mm male / Trs female to Trrs male adapter from Ugreen/ Samsung adapter / Note 10 plus. 
I spent the whole day on it and still not working. 

Any help will be appreciated.

Does the TRS Female to TRRS male has to say that it supports  microphone?   That's the trick - not just and TRS to TRRS male adatper will work.

Replying to the same topic here, does anyone know if we were to connect a USB Type C cable from and audio interface to the Note 10+ type C input, a DAC converter is still required? And if yes, where would we be able to get the converter from ?

I'm having issues trying to do the same thing (record an external mic). I have purchased two DAC cables including the one from Samsung and have 3 TRS to TRRS cables. I've tried all combinations but the phone will not record an external microphone. I'm using a Note10+. All the threads appear to recommend to buy an additional cable which I already have multiple of and the system still does not work. So frustrating. Can we get an engineer from Samsing on this chat to explain how to make a Samsung note 10+ reliably record an external microphone?

I have purchased the exact cables you mention in your post and my Note10+ will still not record an external mic. I just get dead space on audio when trying to record. I have tried using the regular camera and recording apps with Samsung as well as Open Camera with external mic selected. Still nothing! Thoughts are appreciated.
