Default Calendar for new Events in Google Calendar

How do you change the default calendar used for new events in the Samsung Calendar app? It defaults to a calendar from my Google Account that I purposely am not syncing with my phone.

Please turn off sync:

Settings > Clouds and backup > Google > Sync account > toggle off Calendar

Please unlink your Google email: 

Calendar App > tap the menu button > uncheck your Google email under Google please

Sadly no. That doesn't really answer my question and not what I'm looking for.

I want to change the default calendar used in the Samsung Calendar app for new events. Right now it's defaulting to a calendar I have hidden/disabled within the app. I want it to use a different calendar by default.

I have 6 calendars on my Google account. I have one of them disabled/hidden; I'm not sure if its disabled or hidden but the calendar's 'bubble' is unchecked in the drawer. And yet that's the calendar new events are defaulted to. Quite frustrating...

@DannyT any suggestions for a solution? Just need to have the ability to set one of my calendars as default, which isn't possible until now.
