QR scanner issue.

Hi all, New here and looking for some help. Recently moved from S10+ to note 10+ 5g. 

I always found my QR/barcode scanner handy on my S10+ and never had any issues. Since I got the Note 10+ 5g the scanner when used is opening whatever I scan in my notes as text. 

When it gives the option to open in Web it just opens to notes and supply's text which does nothing. 

Anyone any ideas? I have contacted Samsung member's and done live chat but they told me to put the phone in safe mode but didn't explain why or what it might do.

@Kevneill889: Which app are you using to access the QR scanner? Please can you check the link below, and follow the steps provided for scanning QR codes via Bixby Vision, Samsung Internet, Camera app and Gallery, and let me know if you have any success via one of these options?

Safe Mode temporarily disables third party apps, and helps to determine if any issues are stemming from an external source. If you're able to scan a QR code in Safe Mode without issue, then this suggests that a third party app is limiting you in some way, in which case I recommend removing any recently installed apps to address this.

Hi,

I have tried all of the options you mentioned above and all divert me to my notes and display text. 

Its as if something is set wrong within the phone but I've no idea what. 

I bought the phone new and used Samsung smart switch to set the phone up from my S10+ so not sure if something has happened during this process as I also noticed my default tones fro Snapchat,WhatsApp etc were all missing and using the basic notification tones installed in the phone.

My S10 does the same thing. It just takes me to the text on the notes app. 😞

Sorry for posting, my issue is actually something else (similar result however the reason was a URL with spaces).

Same problem here on my Galaxy S9+ my camera recognises the QR codes as note instead of web address... It was working as intended couple of weeks back - no idea what changed. I've even uninstalled the notes app, but the camera still insist the QR codes are notes... 😞

Just realised the problem is when there are non Latin letters in the link. With only latin letters there is no problem. Surely Samsung has to fix that anyways as there are a lot of non-latin domains now like Cyrillic for example.

One thing I learned today is that if I have a QR code with all uppercase for the HTTP, it opens into the text editor. If I change it to http and the remainder of the URL, it goes to the browser.

The problem is that the original standard recommends all uppercase because then it uses a smaller character set and apparently less to encode as long as you don't have other punctuation (other than '/' and ':' so you can form a full URL).

Check the URL of the QR code you're scanning. If the "http" is in uppercase, that's likely the problem.  I'm guessing whomever wrote the Samsung camera QR portion is checking for "http" and didn't check for "HTTP" and it got missed in testing, too.
