I have been a Samsung follower since the beginning of the note series. I've always found these phones brilliant, although on the more expensive side. I've also had several tablets from Samsung to enhance my experience. Obviously, I bought Samsung buds and a Samsung smart watch to make the team complete.
However, it seems once again I fall foul to this big company who believes money grows on trees. My Galaxy Note 20 ultra 5G has, after a Samsung update, decided no longer to function as a mobile phone. Everything was fine. I didn't change settings, no simcard failure, no outage from mobile provider. I wasn't even using the phone until I noticed I had a security update. So, as most people, I updated. Only to find out several hours later, my phone will only connect to WiFi.
I contacted Samsung, and it was recommended a few days later to do a factory reset. Obviously, I must back up my data. This isn't the 1st time this has happened to my list of Samsung products. I've had a similar experience before. It was suggested that back then, I should perform a backup and factory reset. Unfortunately, i still had a loss of data. I use this phone for everything. I refuse to take a gamble and lose important things. Important as to me, but apparently not to Samsung.
I do not have a second phone to transfer everything across. I do not have a computer at home because I don't need one.
So here I am with a none mobile device that was advertised as more like a computer. Its only 4 years old and Samsung always sends ***** up files to make you buy new and more expensive stuff and don't care about you the consumer. I'm a week waiting for information to help me further but mostly, I've received automated messages.
I'm feeling very much forgotten.

Hello @Andyjennings,

Thank you for your message. If you are hesitant to do a factory reset you also can try clearing the cache (temporary) memory first. For this turn of your phone and connect it to the power outlet or your pc/laptop. Press and hold the Volume Up, Power, and Home/Bixby buttons until you see the Android logo. After a few seconds you will enter the recovery menu. Select 'Wipe cache partition' and afterward 'Reboot systeem now'. Let us know it it worked.

With kind regards,

Ajay

Hey Ajay. Thanks for your suggestion. I've tried what you said, but I don't get a recovery menu. I just get a normal phone restart. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Are there any other suggestions?

Greetings Andy

Thank you for the response Andyjennings,

On video platforms you can also find video's about how to do it when you type in the searchbar 'Recovery menu samsung note 20'. Maybe that will help. Let me know if it worked.

With kind regards,

Ajay
