verify phone number

In the middle of set-up. Trying to verify phone number. System says it will send a verification code by text message. I'm in the middle of the set-up sequence. Don't see any way to get to the text messages or any other area of the phone.

When the code is set just pull down your notification shade and it should show on there or use your multi tasking button / swipe function @folkstory

Thanks for the help. In the set-up sequence, I don't seem to have access to notifications or multi-tasking. The screen does not slide/swipe from any direction ~ and there is no physical button on a Samsung A50 phone  ~ other than the power switch and audio control on the edge.
