Slow video playback (slow mo when it shouldn't be!)

I have an A71 and just recently the playback of video, either in Twitter posts, or signal messages for example, runs very slowly. I've tried the device manager to flush the memory and restart the device daily,  all to no avail. Any hints/tips?
