The last few days I have been getting intermittent lag when trying to type text anywhere on my phone. It just seems to freeze and then moments later everything just catches up and all at once. When it does happen and it's very random the screen freezes as well if I try and swipe it off. Any ideas as never had this problem until now.

Hiya, got the same problem. Can happen in any app at any time. I can be using the app and everything's fine and dandy then all of a sudden it lags for about 5 minutes and then goes back to being OK again.

I am constantly having a keyboard lag when typing messages or emails. Also my phone freezes on a regular basis while scrolling. 8 have seen forums online with numerous users experiencing the same problem. I have updated my phone which doesn't work. This is the worst phone I've ever had. Does anyone know if Samsung will fix this

All, I've got a virtual meeting with Samsung Support at 12.30 today, I have sent them a link to this forum and will update you straight after the meeting.

OK so I had a virtual meeting with Samsung Support, they aren't aware of any issues with the A71 handset, I pointed out this forum, but the standard line was book it in for a warranty repair. You can book a repair, where Samsung will run a diagnostic check, make any repairs required and return the phone within 7 working days. Can be booked here:
https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/repair/mobile-device/pick-up-service/
Samsung then return the phone to you (hopefully fixed).
So if you have a spare phone you can do a return and see if it fixes your problem.

Hi Simon

Just wondering if the diagnostic repair worked?

Thanks

Hi Amanda, I've recently traded in my old handset and Samsung won't provide a spare whilst it goes in for repair.  So I'm waiting to borrow a phone before I send it back as I can't go without a phone for 2 weeks! I don't want to have to buy another phone just to send mine off for repair. As soon as I have sent for repair I will post on this forum, but it might not be anytime soon. Thanks

Simon

Hey,  experiencing the same issue and it's driving me insane now! I factory reset yesterday and it's still happening. I'm now on medium power saving mode and off home WiFi as suggested in the other thread so will see what happens.
I was a big fan of the Samsung A series and this is my 6th, I will be rethinking my next one! My phone was brought from Amazon in April and I paid a bit for it, @SAMSUNG why should I be seaking a repair!? Sort this issues out!!

A family member brought one too but theirs is fine! #annoyed

Ok so I've got an update. I have now got a spare phone so I can get the Samsung A71 repaired. I tried to book a repair via the website by going to the trouble shooter but it kept looping back to 'Contact Us'. So I phoned Samsung on 0333 000 0333 and spoke to a very helpful person. I went through the problem and told him about this community forum which he read. He said there's two options: 1.) collection and repair or 2.) a doorstep repair by wefix.co.uk.

He said the downside to a collection and repair was that they technician just resets the phone and if the problem isn't there the second the phone is switched on it is sent back to the customer as working ok! He told me that based on the problems on this forum that would probably happen as the problem is intermittent. So he recommended a doorstep home repair by wefix.co.uk as I can speak properly to the technician and show him the fault before the phone is reset so he can make a recommendation.

So the home repair is booked for Monday 14th December. I will keep you all informed of what happens.

UPDATE - LAGGING PROBLEM SOLVED.😀
Samsung came out to repair my phone on 14th December. Its was a man in a van repair, he took the phone and told me it was either software or the main board but he had to diagnose it first. I stressed that I'd reset the software many times and not used third party apps but the lagging was still there (in fear of it just being reset and handed back). He was back in one hour and said he'd swapped out the main board, so it would be like a new phone. To my delight 24 hours later no lagging has occurred so the problem IS FIXED!

So people, contact Samsung, details on my previous posting and book a doorstep repair. You don't need a spare phone as its done within the hour at home or work. Point them in the direction of this forum community post too.

All in all I wish I'd have booked a repair a lot sooner rather than spending months trying to figure it.

I am very, very pleased and the man in the van technician couldn't have been more helpful and considerate to help solve the problem.
