Hello,
Lately my mother had a problem with her phone. When you start the camera, it opens in macro mode and is thus out of focus. If i click on the "normal" mode the problem disapear (of course...).
The thing is other programs like facebook, whatsapp, google lens,... which use the camera use the "standard" macro mode. Which makes them useless to use...
I have tried to:
- check if there is any settings to change that
- Delete all the caches and data of the camera app
- Updates all the apps and OS
- Install another camera app (same problem because my guess is they use the "standard" camera settings)
- start the phone in safe mode
- Factory reset the phone (thanks for the 1:30hours lost)
But nothing works. It is not a camera problem.
What are our options Samsung? Sending you the phone back for repair won't do anything because it's just a "base" software problem occuring after an update.
Can't you make a fix for this? I have seen several post relating this issues but none mentioning that the app start natively in macro mode. But noone got a workaround for it anyway.
Thank you for your answer(s) and have a nice day

Same issue here. Appeared after some update. This is really annoying issue, seems there is no other way than send it to Samsung, still have warranty. BTW. Why this topic is marked as solved? Can't see any solution.

Hi, I know this is an old thread but this has just started happening on my A40 - did anyone manage to resolve this issue please?

Hi sorry that you have this issue. Am afraid I couldn't solve it any way. I ended up buying a new phone. I think the problem is a physical one, i.e the actual lens has been broken or damaged in some way. Maybe check your guarantee or purchase conditions to see if you can get a replacement.

Hallo, like many other A40 owners, I have since a week or so the same problem. On the Samsung site there is only one report and the answer is it's a hardware problem and the options are to send it up for repair (which could cost more than the phone is worth) or buy a new phone with a discount. I called Samsung and got the same answer. They seem to be unaware that there are many people with the same problem and only look at their own community site. I asked them to please take a look and they refused. The camera focuses in macro at all zooms from 1.0 and above. You can check this by holding it very close to the subject. - Very frustrating !!!!
