Please take a look using a torch in the phone's charging port just to ensure theirs no build up of debris and check the charging cord for debris or damage too.
You shouldn't have to be experiencing such issues after " 1 week " of ownership so I'd suggest to arrange for Samsung or the business that supplied the phone to assist and swap it out.
Anyone out of the cooling off period I'd suggest to try another charging cord and brick and seek support from a Samsung Experience Store or Samsung Service Centre.
