notification sounds

Since the update on 8th of December, I've an issue with notification sounds. Notification sounds from any app aren't working. I've turned them off and on again, changed the sound itself, restarted my phone, all the usual things. Can't find anyone else having this issue however. 

Normal media sound works fine, so the hardware is okay, just no notification sound when a notification comes through. 

Any ideas why?

Clear your phone's System Cache Files by turning your phone Off and then from a set series of button presses go into the phone's System Files and clear the cache. No information is lost this way. 

An extreme option is to back up and remove any relevant sd card and factory reset.
