Hi, I am unable to receive any sound through microphone one on my Samsung galaxy a53

This seems to be a hardware issue, I do not see any visible dirt but maybe the microphone is blocked.

When I run diagnostics, microphone two picks up sound fine, microphone one does not.

I would like to be able to switch my default microphone to microphone two, or at least be able to use my headphones microphone as the default instead of microphone one.

It is very frustrating that the phone defaults to the only broken microphone when there are two other options.

Is it possible to remove microphone one as the default microphone? I have no interest in taking this to a shop to be repaired.

Unfortunately I don't think there is a way to achieve what your wanting to do as the phone's core system chooses which mic to use for certain functions.

I don't think there is anything available in Developer Settings too.

I'm not aware of any apps that could be in the Playstore or Galaxy Store to achieve this too.

Hopefully I'm incorrect and you can find a workaround.

I appreciate your not wanting a Repair but it may be the resolution needed @phoneuser0983

Try sucking over the mic that's affected to see if that frees up any debris. Don't use pressurised air.

You could also double check by asking via the feedback section in your Samsung Members App.

If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate. Take care.  😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
