Is factory reset safe.

I think I've downloaded a fake update.Is it safe to do a factory reset.???

factory reset will delete all downloaded apps and reset the phone to new. Things like email and anything saved will be deleted with the reset

I've done it to a few phones.. if your phone is synced with Google then things get slightly better as it will have saved a few things... like passwords and some Google apps

what makes you think its fake? you downloaded outside of samsung's OTA?

I have my new phone on automatic updates so surely I wouldn't have got a full screen notification to download one.

yep you do get full screen notifications sometime is a bit weird but it is genuine if it does that it does it to mine

so you don't need to reset the phone

Thank you so much.So even on automatic update you get a full screen notification to update that you have to click on.
