Installed new update and my photos dissapeared

Galaxy A Series

So I installed the new samsung update and all of my photos from my photo gallery are missing. For three months the phone has been saving every photo I take to an album it created and now that I downloaded this new update all of those photos are gone. Is there anyone that has fixed this issue? I have. Galaxy A10

Were the photos stored in your phones Gallery or any relevant Sd card @Lapis 

Did you back up your photos to the cloud and or an online vault such as dropbox or google drive etc ?

ItsI best practice to back up before updating firmware just incase.

No, I didn't back up. I've never had this problem before. The photos were saved to the phones gallery. I also have an SD card and all of those pictures are fine, I didn't realise when I got this phone the camera created it's own folder and began saving photos to that.
