How Often should you Update your Samsung Phone

I recently got the Samsung A12 and it had a few lags here and there and it asked for an update.  So my question is right how often should you update your Samsung device?

The phone can be helped if things are lagging @Jay_01 

Do update your software when one becomes available. 

Update your apps in your Playstore and Samsung Galaxy Store App.

Clear an apps cache via Settings, Apps, Choose the App, Location then Clear Cache.

Delete any rarely used or unused items such as apps, calendar notes, texts, videos, notes, ringtones , pictures etc to free up internal space.

Use your Device Care cleaning options.

Clear your phone's System Cache Files by turning your phone Off and then from a set series of button presses go into the phone's System Files and clear the cache. No information is lost this way. You may need to insert your headphones or hook upto a computer with your data cable to get to this menu on the phone.
