Galaxy A51 dual sim won't receive calls or texts when one SIM is on a call

When I'm on a call on my work SIM I am unable to receive text messages or phone call notifications on the other SIM. It's like using my work SIM disables everything on the other SIM entirely. This is a massive problem as my kids can't send me messages.  Have I missed setting some option on this SIM?

Options
Try going to settings - connections - sim card manager - more sim card settings and check that dual sim always on is not turned off. Hope this helps.
