Frozen small app icons at screen top along with swipe down functikn not present

while running a  Google maps route in the background and running a few other apps back and forth, the swipe down function stopped working. Two small icons remain frozen in place - the small Google walking figure in blue and the screenshot captured one. I've restarted the phone. Enabled,  disabled, reanabled swipedown feature but it doesn't function. Installed T-Mobile software update today. Nothing seemed different. Very strange. I'm running an A11 bought last September.

that is odd! Can you please send me here a screenshot or video of what you see on the screen when that happens so I can get a better understanding of the issue and provide you with the right steps?
