Very disappointed, my samsung A40 phone, only 30 months old,,completely dead, highly competent  phone technician found a burned chip, managed to source a replacement,  but to,no avail.
I have bought 2 Samsung tablets, no problems at all with them.
My old moto g lasted 5 years and was hoping for similar close span from the A40.
Not sure whether to replace thecA40 with another Samsung phone, if it only lasts 30 months.

The oldest Samsung device I have is the Galaxy Note Fan Edition
Based on the Note 7.
Must be 5 years old or not far from it. Still going though.
I've had other older Samsung phones and they have been OK
Unfortunately I think on this occasion you were just unlucky
