Claim for headphones fails with error "Can't participate in this event"

I purchased an A51 from Three Ireland and attempted to claim the headphones(a-series-akg-y500) however, when I get to the Claim section in the app I get and error that reads:

"Can't participate in this event. Check event details for eligibility. (BNF.403.111)". There are no further details or links. 

I do not get as far as submitting purchase evidence.
