And as a result I can't use my new phone with a payment card via Google Wallet/Pay. Very frustrating. How can this be certified or is the phone actually insecure?

Hi @Members_uyLq5GA

This is a similar community post > /galaxy-s21-series/device-is-not-play-protect-certified.

Another last resort is to back up and Factory Reset.

Look at the options to return the phone for a new one due to you not owning it for very long.

You shouldn't have to be troubleshooting a brand new phone @Members_uyLq5GA

If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate. Take care.  😎

Sounds like your phone is counterfeit and not a genuine Samsung. Take it to a Samsung Service Center for them to check this. If it is genuine then it must be a hardware or software fault. In which case Samsung Service Centre will fix or replace your phone for free.

It's not counterfeit. I brought direct off Samsung.
