I am on EE and every time i switch my A51 5g phone to the 5G connection the battery on my phone rapidly drains. Anybody else experiencing the same problem?

The 5G modem inside all 5G phones takes up a lot of battery and is pretty normal so I wouldn't be too worried.

@kazmimanzar

it's normal, mobile data especially 5G eats more power

if there's no 5G signal, you can set the network connection to 4G only

Settings → Connections → Mobile network → network mode → 4G or LTE only

😉

Thank you for your response. The thing is that the 5G signal is available where i live. Thanks for the settings advice. I tend to use the 4G signal most of the time.

The drain is worse the further you go from the nearest mast. If you are right on the limit of the 5G signal, your phone will trying to ping other masts for a better signal

Thanks for the response. In my area there is a very strong 5G signal from EE. It hardly ever loses its speed. Only during maintenance times the speed will drop or automatically switch to the 4G/LTE signals. Thank you so much for the information
