A71 fingerprint problem

I bought my Samsung A71 in June 2020. I waited for software updates, tried removing screen guard, moisturizing my hands etc but in vain.

My fingerprint scanner after registering has never matched and it just doesn't work. Could it a hardware issue? Can i get a replacement for this?

Fingerprint scanners can certainly be hit and miss sometimes @ATirthgirikar

Deleting the fingerprints and starting again can help.

A couple of tips I picked up when setting up the finger prints are.

When setting up take x3 scans with each thumb and then rotate the phone around when taking further prints of each thumb so your phone can read both thumbs from the same finger print scan. Scan your prints as you would normally hold the phone.

Also using two fingers when setting up one fingerprint works pretty well.

Go into Settings . Biometrics and Security.  Biometrics Preferences . Turn Off Screen Transition Effect.

Then go into Settings and search for Optomise Battery Usage. Tap in Optimise  Battey Usage  tap to show All and scroll down to com.samsung.android.biom and toggle Off

For me this improved the fps on my Note.

I also have dry skin on my fingers and so find it sometimes beneficial to moisten my fingertip by breathing on it before unlocking the phone.

Thank you @BandOfBrothers

I tried doing everything you suggested but even after that when I go to check added fingerprints at that time it shows no match. No matter what.

Then I'd delete the fingerprints and factory reset.

Or let a Samsung Experience Store or Samsung Service Centre can take a look.

Hi @ATirthgirikar ,

I had a similar issue on my A70 where 3rd party apps read my biometric OK but the phone (inc. unlock) didn't recognise at all (inc. re-checking in device settings). This was sorted by @BandOfBrothers suggestion (also in his reply to you) pasted in again below so maybe worth giving that another go...

Go into Settings . Biometrics and Security. Biometrics Preferences . Turn Off Screen Transition Effect.
