I had an S6 for a few years, which I was mostly happy with, except for a few details eg (1) Samsung Pay kept firing up by itself and crashing the phone, and (2) no matter how many times I reset the locations etc, “trusted places” only worked rarely.
Eventually I decided to upgrade to something newer, and got an S9. First positive – it doesn't even have Samsung Pay on it. However, the problem with Trusted Places remains. It’ll work occasionally, for a little while, then stop, and I have to manually unlock the phone every time I want to use it, while sitting here at home.
I’ve Googled everything I can find on the net, but none of the suggestions works. If I open Google Maps, the phone is located precisely here; if I clear all the trusted locations, and enter 3 or 4 new ones, all within a few yards of my house, it still only works sometimes.
When I’m using my laptop (trusted device, couple of feet from the phone), it always works.
From many hours spent searching, I see this is a well-known problem, affecting a great many people, and has been around for years.
Is there anything at all I can do?
