Bug with screen unlock

Have a fingerprint set-up and have the phone locked so your on the lock screen (screen turned on) double tab the finger print section of the screen with the finger to unlock, phone will unlock and the screen will be turned off, so now if you press the power button to turn the screen on the phone will already be in a unlocked state. Issue is not with beta only, tested on s21 android 12 and same issue.

Not sure if this is an issue but I just think that shouldn't be normal.

Hi,

The screen locks after a certain time after the screen turns off. This time is set in Settings > Lock screen > Secure lock settings > Auto lock when Screen turns off

By default it is set to 5 seconds - this is done I suppose, to allow you time to turn the screen back on while you are still say, reading an article, but not touching the screen and screen turns off.

You can change the auto lock option to immediate, if you prefer.

Hope this helps.

Hi thanks for your reply, but this is different to what you are saying, double tapping with the finger you use to unlock the phone on the fingerprint reader will unlock the phone and turn the screen off but when you try to turn the phone on using the power button it will already be unlocked (not needing pin or fingerprint)

This isn't a bug but is actual correct operation of 3 differing functions which you are invoking simultaneously - Fingerprint unlock and 'Double tap to turn screen on / off' l.
With the screen on the handset is expecting to read a fingerprint. When you 'tap' the first time in proximity of the FP reader then it is acknowledging and reading your fingerprint successfully (and rapidly) - therefore unlocking the handset [correct functionality].
The second 'tap' in quick succession is read as being the secondary input to invoke the 'Double tap to turn screen off', so the screen turns off [correct functionality].
Yes the handset will remain 'unlocked' for a short period & if you press the power key immediately then the handset will be unlocked (but then you actually told it to unlock!). If you do not press the power key then the device will revert to its 'Auto Lock when screen off' timeout value. Ie: 5 secs, and will lock itself again [correct functionality].

The fingerprint reader is really expecting the user to do 1 input and place their finger on the reader rather than expect you to be tapping it furiously.

Hello @frankd55 ,

Wasn't @Neo001 's tip helpful? If you have (for example) 5 seconds timer set before the phone requires your fingerprint to unlock the phone again it can cause the situation you described. If that's not the case and if you are still experiencing issues, please report the error through Samsung Members app 😊

Have a good day!

You can leave the screen off for more then 5 seconds and when you press the power button it will still be unlocked (I left it for 5 minutes)

Yeah same on mine too. It's obviously not right, as in the device should still auto lock after some time, but then it's also a weird scenario that probably hasn't been tested.

This is useless answer.
This is confirmed bug.
I tested it again, waited half hour and the phone is still UNLOCKED and should be locked after 5 seconds but it is not.
THIS IS CRITICAL BUG!

It's not.
Please read my above comment.
The phone will remain unlocked forever if we do not relock it again.
