Please try to clear cache of Android Auto app, go to: Settings > Apps > Android Auto > Storage > Clear Cache. Perhaps this will improve the situation.
I also recommend you try to re-establish the connection. Remove the vehicle from the connected devices and then reconnect the phone to Android Auto.
