Smarthings - joining devices over a long distance

Hi, I have a smarthings hub and want to connect devices in my garden that are about 35m away. As they will have trouble contacting the hub from that distance, I understand that if I place a mains powered device in the middle, it will act as a repeater. I am considering getting a motion sensor but am not sure what to get to ensure it will act as a repeater. I Would appreciate any suggestions/advice?
