Samsung Galaxy Chromebook: Never Available in the UK?

I'd like to buy a new Samsung Galaxy Chromebook - but I live in London, England, UK (rather than, say, London, Ohio, USA).

At the Samsung US online store (ie: https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/chromebooks/all-chromebooks/ ) there are NINE Samsung Chromebooks available, including the new Samsung Galaxy Chromebook - but at the Samsung UK online store (ie: https://www.samsung.com/uk/ ), the only computer available is the Samsung Galaxy Book S (a Microsoft Windows 10 Home notebook computer); ie: in the UK there are ZERO Samsung Chromebooks available (and the same is true in other European countries' Samsung online stores, such as Germany, France, and Italy).

Dan Millward at Chrome Computing concurs:
"The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook will be available in the USA by the end of April 2020 at the latest. If you’re based in the USA then this is great news. Unfortunately, this isn’t the same for anyone living in the UK, as Samsung left the laptop market in the UK a few years ago."

I'd like to get official confirmation from Samsung that the new Samsung Galaxy Chromebook will never be available to buy in the UK.

Thanks in advance,

Tim Jones

I would also like to know. Samsung please could you not leave us out to dry? I'm happy to wait a bit if I actually know it's coming? If not I'm wasting time not buying from another manufacturer. Given the loyalty to brands some customers have it would be great if you could provide a response. The initial post was created over 3 weeks ago. Thank you.

Hey Samsung. Any chance of a response to the OP?

I think there are many of us waiting for the release of a chromebook which may never happen. If that's the case, please put us out of our misery.

Samsung are clearly not bothered enough to provide a reply of any kind.  I am going elsewhere and cancelling the upgrade of my S10 also.

UPDATE: Samsung UK's Boilerplate Evasiveness

As you can see, it seems that maybe Samsung UK are too embarrassed by their short-sighted decision to ditch selling their Chromebooks in Europe, in that they have FAILED to post an official confirmation in this thread that the new Samsung Galaxy Chromebook will never be available to buy in the UK.

I asked for the same confirmation from Samsung UK in their Facebook Messenger channel (see conversation excerpt below) - and at least I got a reply, albeit an unhelpful exercise in boilerplate evasiveness.

So I ended up buying my Samsung Galaxy Chromebook in the USA, from a seller on eBay.com, based in Shelby Township, Michigan, and swiftly delivered by FedEx.

While I am indeed delighted with my new Samsung Galaxy Chromebook - on which I am handwriting this update in tablet mode - the lacklustre boilerplate evasiveness of Samsung UK to a simple pre-purchase question will leave a sour taste in the mouth for months to come.

Samsung UK, Facebook Messenger channel:

Me:
[...] Samsung chose to exit the laptop market in the UK six years ago, or so it seems:

"Samsung has decided to exit the laptop market, stopping sales of [...] Chromebook devices in Europe, PC Advisor can confirm.
"In Europe, we will be discontinuing sales of laptops including Chromebooks for now. This is specific to the region – and is not necessarily reflective of conditions in other markets," said a Samsung spokesperson."

Before I commit to a Samsung Galaxy Chromebook grey import option, from USA to UK, I'd like to get official confirmation from Samsung that your new Samsung Galaxy Chromebook will NOT be available to buy in the UK between today (21 Apr 2020) and 31 Dec 2020.

Thanks in advance for your prompt response,

Tim Jones

Samsung UK:
Hey Tim. We appreciate you coming through to us with this. Unfortunately, we are unable to confirm any specific details on products that have not yet launched as we do not have any information on this. We appreciate this may be frustrating, but we'd recommend keeping an eye on our website for information on any further products. ^CC

Thanks for your prompt reply.
"We are unable to confirm any specific details on products that have not yet launched as we do not have any information on this."
That's a rather parochial response for a global enterprise, since the Samsung product I'm after buying was launched at CES in Las Vegas on 06 Jan 2020, and went on sale in the USA at Samsung.com/US on 06 Apr 2020:

'[Update] Elevate the Google Experience with Samsung’s First-Ever Galaxy Chromebook', ~ Samsung US Newsroom, 06 Jan 2020

'Do What You Love With Galaxy Chromebook', ~ Samsung US Newsroom, 06 Apr 2020
» https://news.samsung.com/us/galaxy-chromebook-do-what-you-love/
'Samsung Galaxy Chromebook', on sale at Samsung.com/US since 06 Apr 2020

Since there's no indication at all in your reply to lead me to believe that Samsung will ever overturn your short-sighted six-year-old "No Samsung Chromebooks for Europe" policy, then I'll have to buy my Samsung Galaxy Chromebook in the USA, and then arrange for the added complication of a grey import option, from USA to UK. While I will no doubt get many years of enjoyable service from my my Samsung Galaxy Chromebook, the frustration of not being able to buy one in the UK, combined with the boilerplate evasiveness of Samsung UK's response to a simple pre-purchase question, will leave a sour taste in the mouth for months to come.

Thanks a lot for putting that reply up - they have a strange marketing approach in Europe these days......good luck with getting it from the US!

You know, if samsung chromebooks had been in the UK i, i wouldn't bought lenovo chromebooke here (https://www.bestadvisers.co.uk/best-chromebooks) . So it's just inconvenience for customers, i think. And it shows that amsung are satisfied with us market
