Samsung Evo 990 4TB isn't recognized by my Asus ROG 604VI Laptop.
I originally after several tries got it to work. Installed games, etc.
Works reliably right up until the next reboot.
The problem from what I can surmise is related to enumeration of the SSD on the 2nd m.2 slot. Western Digital drive is using the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver. The Western Digital SSD won't boot if I disable this driver.
I have twice been able to get it back and working by re-installing the Intel Chipset Driver. This usually lasts until the next power cycle. Sometimes power cycling will bring it back. I'm soooo frustrated. I see this issue all over the place in various forms. How can I get it to work reliably.

Had the same issue on my ROG laptop, turns out it was the Intel RST driver messing with NVMe detection. What fixed it for me was switching the storage mode in BIOS from RAID/Intel RST → AHCI, then reinstalling Windows (or at least the NVMe driver) so both drives are seen natively. Also make sure you’re on the latest BIOS and Samsung NVMe driver, not just the Microsoft one. Been solid ever since.
