Samsung C49HG90 really really slow to wake up, messes up my window positions

When I have my Windows 11 laptop set into "Turn off display after 5 minutes" of inactivity. When I return to the computer I'll usually press a key on the keyboard to wake the screens up. The laptop isn't in sleep mode, it's just in screen off mode. With my previous two LG 27" monitors they would wake up from their standby mode as quickly as the laptop screen wakes up. No issues.

With my new Samsung C49HG90 (which is lovely by the way) when I press a key on the keyboard to turn the monitors back on the Samsung takes many seconds longer to wake up than the laptop screen. If that was the only problem I could live with that. It would be less productive than it should be, but acceptable. The main issue is that Windows is briefly confused by the monitor not giving any indication it's alive and Windows rearranges all my open applications to move them all to the laptop screen, like it would if I'd physically disconnected it from the monitor and was using it elsewhere. In that situation you need Windows to do this, otherwise you wouldn't be able to access any of the open windows. But when the monitor is actually still there, you don't want this to happen.

In the video I'm hoping to attach, you see how the laptop screen which normally only has that one small window on it, suddenly gets all of the open windows/apps that were on the big monitor. Some time later when the monitor wakes up, it restores the windows all back to where they were. Or at least, most of them. One that was on the left side of the monitor was relocated to the right side. You might argue that this is Windows at fault, but it's only the monitor that provoked it into getting it wrong.

I have two workarounds for this. One is to disable the "Turn off display after 5 minutes", setting it to Never instead. and using a "Blank" screensaver. It looks almost the same (black screens) but it's not energy efficient. The other workaround is to briefly press the monitor power button to wake it up, wait 5 seconds, then press a key on the keyboard. Also not as efficient as it should be. This is what I'm doing currently.

So how can we make it come out of standby more quickly?

Edit/Update: Now it's showing one of those messages like you get on a TV where you have to confirm you don't want it to auto turn off. Not sure how many hours it was on (6? 8? 10?) but however many it was, I was working that whole time and got that message. I don't want that, or I want it to be a longer timeout. I don't suppose I can do that either. I'm not recommending this monitor now if anyone asks.

Setup: Windows 11 on an Acer laptop that has both HDMI and DP outputs. I use both outputs and PBP mode because I don't want a maximized window to be 3840x1080. In PBP mode, I can have two separate 1920x1080 virtual monitors on one physical monitor.

Thanks Samsung, it's been an emotional rollercoaster of support from your side. Is there anywhere I can give a 5-Star rating on the customer service quality?

Hi, @Members_bfF62Fw. I sincerely apologise that you have had to wait for an answer, and I appreciate that you are understandably keen to get this matter resolved.

We're always happy to help, and the other Community users will often weigh in with extremely helpful tips, answers, and solutions. However, other than what you've tried so far, I genuinely don't have any additional suggestions to offer. I did, of course, look into this before replying.

It's important that you get your monitor waking as quickly as you would expect, so I believe that it will be quicker and more efficient to dialogue about this with our Product Support Team here:

https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/contact/

I sense that our Product Specialists will be able to run through various troubleshooting steps, and will advise you about the next steps (if said steps do not get this working as expected).

This applies if you're based in the UK, of course. If you happen to be based outside the UK, I'd recommend liaising with the Support Team in your region:

https://www.samsung.com/uk/function/ipredirection/ipredirectionLocalList/

I'd appreciate it if you could update the thread and let us know when you get this resolved.
