My Samsung 870 Evo 500GB SSD is not performing as expected

Hey there,

I've fresh installed Windows 10 on a new Samsung 870 Evo 500GB SSD, and unfortunately cannot reach the advertised speeds in different benchmarks.

Would you know how to achieve the same performance as other users (cf. benchmarks below)?
How can I achieve similar speeds as in those benchmarks? Thanks in advance for your help.

What I've done so far:

  1. installed 2.5'' Samsung Evo 500GB SSD
  2. connected with a SATA III cable to a SATA III port (SATA3_0)
  3. fresh installed Windows 10
  4. installed updates, drivers
  5. configured BIOS
    1. selected AHCI as SATA mode (installed in IDE mode, changed to AHCI after the fact in safe mode so Windows 10 would recognize the boot drive)
  6. power options: plan set to High Performance
  7. enabled write caching
  8. installed SSD software assistant (Samsung Magician)
    1. checked for firmware updates
  9. TRIM already enabled
  10. disabled System Protection
  11. disabled Windows' indexing of file contents
  12. disabled hibernation
  13. disabled Prefetch & Superfetch
  14. possibly other things

I also tried disabling Write cache buffer flushing, Pagefile, but reversed those changes. I may have noticed marginal improvements, but not too significant either.

 

My config:

  • Windows 10 Home 64-bit
  • Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3
  • 2x4GB HyperX Fury RAM
  • Intel Core i3-2100
  • AMD Radeon HD 6870
  • Samsung 870 Evo 500GB SATA3 2.5'' SSD

It won't because your processor and mainboard storage controller combination is not decent enough to deliver the transfer speeds.
