Samsung Electronics has won an amazing 71 awards at the International Forum (iF) Design Awards 2022, including three Gold Awards. These 71 awards, the highest number of awards for any competitor, were spread across nine different categories: Product, Packaging, Communication, Professional Concept, Interior Architecture, Architecture, Service Design, User Experience (UX), and User Interface (UI).
The iF Design Awards were founded in 1954 by iF International Forum Design; they aim to highlight outstanding design from around the world. Today, the iF Design Awards is one of the most celebrated and valued design competitions around. This year, the competition received almost 11,000 entries from 57 different countries.
The three Samsung products that won Gold Awards are The Freestyle, the Galaxy Z Flip3, and the Bespoke Slim.
The Freestyle is a portable projector that’s packed full of amazing features. Its screen can be adjusted to suit the space you’re using, automatically focusing to get perfectly sharp images in just seconds. It can also be used as a speaker with 360° sound.
The iF judges said that The Freestyle was “in a league of its own”. “The design is reminiscent of a klieg light, evoking an iconic cinematic experience […] This was an absolute jury favourite”.
The Galaxy Z Flip3 was honoured for its compact and iconic design. The iF judges praised the Galaxy Z Flip3’s “proportionality and balance”, highlighting how the Galaxy Z Flip3 “revives the ultra-convenient flip phone without sacrificing the features of a smartphone.”
The Bespoke Slim is a cylindrical wireless vacuum cleaner. It comes in multiple colours so it can blend seamlessly into any home. It’s designed to be super-easy to use and store, and it has a simple mechanism to empty the dust without having to get your hands dirty.
The iF Design Awards panel of judges said that the Bespoke Slim “makes light work of otherwise-tedious vacuum cleaning and for that reason richly deserves the Gold.”
Other Samsung products that won awards include the Galaxy Z Fold3, our first foldable smartphone compatible with the S Pen; and The Frame, the smart TV that can transform into a work of art. Galaxy Upcycling at Home, Samsung’s initiative to help turn unused Galaxy phones into Home Internet of things devices, received a UX award, while One UI 4 picked up a User Interface award.
