Hi everyone,

I need some clarification, as to be honest the Samsung support staff are hopeless with knowing anything about their own products.

I was on chat with support enquiring about the eARC firmware update for this soundbar, he replies to me saying it doesn't have eARC?!

the whole reason I purchased it was because of this update, I have the LG C9 which is eARC!

if they don't provide this firmware update to allow it, then this soundbar is going back for a refund.

I just updated my Q-80R soundbar via SmartThings app, hoping I'll be able to leave my PS4 plugged in now as it was blocking ARC

I use a Nvidia Shield Pro TV 2019 for atmos and Dts-x movies.
I have it puggled directly into the soundbar. Now with the eARC update do you recommend to plug the shield to the TV hdmi (I have a LG C9)
Is there any advantage other than free one of the soundbar's hdmi's? I mean, in terms of sound/picture quality.
Thanks

Whats the point in just updating the soundbar to support earc if the Q90 65 inch flag ship TV does not support earc.  I bought the two together for this purpose!

@zutanoz Im on the same boat as you are with the Q90r tv and the soundbar. But there is light at the end of the tunnel now that they have released an update for the soundbar. Hopefully an update for the TVs will come out soon. Let's just keep our fingers crossed.

Hi there, I have always thought you are an expert. Hoping you can help me. I don't have a TV which has EARC. I have a Q90R soundbar connected to NVIDIA shield with TV arc input on soundbar connected to my TV. I was just wondering if I should see EARC on the soundbar display when connected to NVIDIA shield. Thanks

Is that manual update on the sub and rear speakers really needed again?

I guess many normal users will never do that...

Useful to know. I used SmartThings to update to 1010.5: the main unit and the rear speakers seems to be updated (they are now @ S 0136.0 > RR 0136.0 > RL 0136.0, while I'm pretty sure they were @ 0133.0 before, since I still had firmware 1007.9), but the subwoofer is still at W 0240.0, while I read it should be at least @ W 0241.0.

Can someone else share their full version string after updating to 1010.5?

For all those who have received the update I would like to see if there is anything additional that needs to be done to update the satellite speakers and the subwoofer or it happens automatically.

Do the earc update fix the annoying lypsync when using Dolby digital and Dolby Atmos?

Yes, I checked that myself.

Nice, been waiting for this. No more choosing between vrr and atmos😁

Hi
Where I can to download this 1010.5 update version?

I'm from Italy and I got the update through the SmartThings app. However, the Italian Samsung website not only does not have the 1010.5 firmware yet for downloading, but they even removed the 1007.9 version which was the latest (and only) one available until a couple of days ago!

The US site seems to have just 1008.0 available for downloading. If anyone can find the updated 1010.5 version on any other Samsung official website please let us know.

Can anyone check if forced lip synchronization works? The eAPC protocol provides for forced synchronization of audio and video.
It is also interesting whether the sound strobe on DD (ac3) tracks has been fixed?
