Hi everyone,

I need some clarification, as to be honest the Samsung support staff are hopeless with knowing anything about their own products.

I was on chat with support enquiring about the eARC firmware update for this soundbar, he replies to me saying it doesn't have eARC?!

the whole reason I purchased it was because of this update, I have the LG C9 which is eARC!

if they don't provide this firmware update to allow it, then this soundbar is going back for a refund.

@mike1986krk, follow the instructions outlined here:
https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/tv-audio-video/how-to-update-the-software-of-your-q90r-soundbar/

Power up the Soundbar and wait for three minutes. Briefly press the “VOL” button to ensure the display is lit. While the display is still lit, press and hold the down button for approximately 6 seconds until "UPDATE" is displayed.

I did everything - repaired subwoofer, reset soundbar, used "down button" to make sure update is complete. After all it's still 0033.0 for "W" and "S".

Worth trying:
Unplug the sound bar and the subwoofer from power. Leave them unplugged for at least 30 seconds.
Them plug them to power again, turn on the soundbar and perform a new pairing for the sub woofer. Instructions are in the link provided earlier.
Then try again:
Power up the Soundbar and wait for three minutes. Briefly press the “VOL” button to ensure the display is lit. While the display is still lit, press and hold the down button for approximately 6 seconds until "UPDATE" is displayed.

If it still does not update, maybe try again via USB when the downloadable version becomes available.

I updated from 1008. Maybe that the reason why it is slighly different.

Hello Marko81

I have the HW-Q80r connected to my LG OLED C9 and i've just started trying to use Plex. I have the Plex server on my pc and installed the Plex app on my OLED (both connected with wi-fi). But finding a bit difficult to watch the movies, do you use wi-fi? And were can i find some lossless Atmos movies to test the soundbar ?

You can't pass losseless audio with the internal Lg Plex APP , you can passthrough uncompressed lossless audio only via hdmi sources (Nvidia shield ). The internal plex lg oled app can do only dolby digital + atmos (compressed version ) it can't do dts:x or truehd atmos.Curently there is no tv that can do truehd atmos.

Plex app on my C9 didn't work for me either. It's constantly buffering when I tried to play movies with lossless Dolby Atmos track. When playing compressed Dolby Digital 5.1 it works fine. When I switched to Xplay app (you still need Plex server on PC) all problems disappeared and now I'm able to play lossless Atmos tracks (it's 5 days trial so you can try it and see if it works for you). So, I've installed Plex server on my PC, didn't change anything in the settings, just manually added folder with movies, installed Plex app on my C9 and that's it.

It's really easy to set everything but there is tutorial if something goes wrong for you.

Hello Danny,

Thanks for your answer .

I was thinking on buying a nvidia shield.  If i do soo, where could i download some lossless Atmos & dts:x movies? And what fo i need to do to watch those movies with lossless sound on my oled?

-Do i transfer the movie files to nvidia?

-Do i connect nvidia to my soundbar?

Thanks for your help
