Hi, I had a 4 year old Samsung TV with a J-Series soundbar. It worked flawlessly and paired automatically via Sound Connect. I recently upgraded to a Q67R 65 inch TV and immediately had issues pairing and operating the soundbar. I have today been out and purchased a new HW-R550 soundbar. I have connected it via an optical cable and I also have the option to pair it via Bluetooth. I can get it to switch on with the TV fine either when it is set to BT or DiN but the thing will not switch off when I turn the TV off. I have to scramble around looking for the Soundbar remote to switch it off. The TV just cost me £1,300 and the new soundbar a further £300 and they seem to have worse connectivity than my 4 year old setup. Is there something I'm missing or has Samsung screwed something up here?? Please help me it's incredibly frustrating.

Hi @Steve851. Was your soundbar previously connected to a ARC HDMI port on the TV?

Hi, no it's always only been Bluetooth or Optical connection. My old sound bar didn't have HDMI pass through.

Hi, I let you the Official manual of your bar, you can read in page 10 about connections and check all options of your bar while issue is investigate
About auto power on and off I think will be with a HDMI connection to the bar as last person told you, and I do not remember if set some option is necessary too or not, I don't remember mine

I've just read on page 23 that the sound bar auto powers off after 20 mins of inactivity. Just bizarre it doesn't turn on and off with the TV. Like i said in my original post my old one did with my old TV perfectly no issues.

Sorry, you have a "little issue about info" and not a faulty as malfunctions, it is different, all work correctly, only your bar do not start with TV as old one with new TV.
I have mine in HDMI ARC connected and it does not start automatically (1'5 years old), I do not check if my system has the auto on option in anyplace, for that reason we give you the manual to read all possiblities, it seem very complete

That doesn't make any sense in any language, my old sound bar and old tv paired perfectly. Switched on together and off together in perfect harmony, the new TV and new Sound bar switch on fine but when I switch the TV off the sound bar remains on. Make sense now?

It makes sense that you want to give it, it is not my problem as I said other times, I do not know what and how it acts inside your devices, I hope someone tells you and not me.
Bye
