I have the sound bar down in my basement with no wall behind it I could not get the remote to control the sound bar at all only if I stood behind the TV I tried lowering it to the lowest level and putting it above the TV set still it would not work. I do not have a wall behind the TV in order for the RF signal to bounce off of it and control the sound bar. after many calls to Samsung returning sound bar to Best Buy because I thought the remote was broken I was able to fix it by adding some tape and a piece of aluminum foil to the back of the sound bar so we could bounce off and control the sound bar
