HW-J355 Soundbar Auto Power On/Off

My HW-J355 Soundbar is connected to my TV using the optical input.

When I turn my TV on, the soundbar will auto power on but only if it has previously been manually powered off using the remote. If I let the soundbar auto power off, when I next turn on the TV the soundbar does not auto power on. 

How can I make the auto power on/off work correctly please?

To answer my own question...

I updated the software to the latest version which reset the soundbar to its default settings. One of these (or both) fixed the problem.
