Hi All,

just recently bought a new Samsung soundbar B450 which I am very pleased with but at low volume the woofer has a strange background interference noise. I updated the firmware Version 1026 and the problem remains.

Anyone had the same experience and is there a fix?

hi, i have the same problem. There is a squeaking noise from the rear of the subwoofer. This is a manufacturing defect in my opinion. Maybe I'm wrong and an update will fix the problem. I have very sensitive hearing and this sound annoys me a lot.

Same issue here. Brand new soundbar (bought on Tuesday) and there's this noise that sounds like a hard drive spinning coming from the woofer.

I've no idea what firmware I have or how to update it but it doesn't sound like that has fixed your issue.

Does anyone from Samsung monitor this "community"?

Hi, @dpmcalister. The Community is active, moderated, and monitored, and many issues are resolved via the communications here - either other users sharing steps that they have used, or providing relevant information. This also applies to the Moderators and we will weigh in with appropriate information or suggested next steps. We don't necessarily reply to every post, however.

Of course, not every issue can be resolved via this platform, as some issues will be novel or might require more dialogue or will need to be addressed by, for example, a Product Specialist.

If your soundbar is making an abnormal or distorted sound, in most cases, it requires a firmware update. Checking connection cables can also resolve the issue.

The guide below, created by our friends at Samsung US, contains some very useful tips:

https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01109855/

However, if you find that the issue persists, I definitely recommend reaching out to one of our Support Teams:

or

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately that link hasn't helped as it's not the soundbar itself but the woofer and it's not a static noise but a sound similar to a hard drive spinning. It also only occurs where there is a conversation taking place on the media being played (which is normally a TV show or movie). It stops as soon as the conversation stops.

Regarding connections/cables, the woofer is wirelessly linked (automatically) with the soundbar. The only cable from it is the power cable.

You mention updating the firmware. How do I go about doing that?

Ah, I see, @dpmcalister, and you're welcome. 👍

Indeed, the guide wasn't an exact match for the issue you mentioned, but I was hopeful that the steps would help ensure you got the sound output up to the expected standard.

The following guide, again from Samsung US, provides a variety of steps for updating your soundbar:

Please let us know when you get this resolved.

Thanks again. Unfortunately I've been struggling to get the soundbar to update. It just won't accept any of the USB storage devices I enter. It keeps saying "NO USB" on the display but I know it's there and only has the contents of the firmware in the root directory.

I think I might send it back as a bad joke! My old LG soundbar never had this trouble.

Hello, my soundbar was sent to the seller as a complaint. Unfortunately, the update did nothing. There are videos on youtube that show the fault we are talking about here. It seems that the new device is defective from the factory and should not be released for sale. Samsung should take better care of the quality of its products.

Hi
I purchased a B450 soundbar this week and have exactly the same issue you describe - modulation/distortion on the Subwoofer - especially audible on speech content - sounds like very poor gated compression artefacts.
Did you get a resolution on this?
thanks!

Hi,

I have the same issue with my soundbar. Very annoying while watching TV as it is constantly in the background.

I bought mine from Curry’s in December and now stuck in a position where they don’t want to accept it back. Seems to be an issue from the factory as it is a problem with all soundbars of this model.

Any suggestions on what can be done?
