BD-ES7000 player suddenly rejecting Blu Rays still ok with DVDs. Upgrade to firm ware hasn’t helped. Any thoughts?

Hi-all Blu Rays I tried - they all used to work on it.  All DVDs still work.  Any ideas?  Thanks

This is bizarre. Which TV is it hooked up to? Do you have any other remotes that can control the player?

HI, Its connected to a Samsung large screen TV UE55ES8000.  I dont have any other remotes that work on the player but its not even getting to the remote usage stage.  It's making loading noises a couple of times and then throwing out the Disc with a message asking me to clean the disc or check media types in the manual.  However it has played all these Blu Ray discs before.  Its still playing DVD's fine and loads then fine.  I tried several of both types.  I just had a thought - do these players need cleaning (like we used to do for video tapes) and could that be the problem?  Are Blu Ray discs more sensitive than DVD's?

Blu-rays are more scratch resistant than DVD's so that shouldn't be the problem. Sounds weird but can you change the HDMI port that it's connected with in your TV to a different one? I'm just wondering if it's sending a signal of sorts to be doing this.

I just tried that and also left the cable out.  Neither worked - it still rejected the disc.  None of my discs are scratchedIMG_8329.jpg

If the laser head got dirty would it be easier on DVD's than Blu Rays or the other way around?

Hi @PB231. I've heard back from the Product Specialists and they said there are 2 lasers on the player; one for Blu-rays and one for DVD's. It would be best if an engineer inspected this now. This link will  direct you to the closest Service Centre in your area. Hope this helps.
