Audio Delay from Xbox Series X

I have just bought a new Xbox Series X console and have it wired into my new Samsung Q90T 2020 TV through the game port and then wired via HDMI  EARC port into my Q800T soundbar.

On setting the console to Dolby Atmos there is a significant audio delay from the soundbar which cannot be rectified through the sync settings on the soundbar or the TV.

I have Netflix on the TV and my satellite box set up also through EARC and there is no issue but the is significant issue with the Xbox sound sync which is quite frankly infuriating.

Is anyone else having this issue, and has anyone found a fix? I have spent a lot of money on a new home cinema set up and cannot watch blu rays because of this.

in general, we actually have to stop blaming samsung and annoy microsoft / dolby way more. this problem is not exclusive for samsung, when you search for it, there are also a lot of people with the same issue using a lg tv for example.
every other input is fine, its just the xbox for most people, so seems more like ms needs to fix something

I have had issues with the dolby from my PS5 also when I have switched the sound output. That's connected into the TV via the Earc port. To be honest I have no idea who the issues lie with 😂

It’s good to bring this to attention! I have the Xbox sx , Sony A90j Samsung q80R and a Denon x4500h. 1) Xbox - Sony A90j - pass through earc - Denon…. No delay Atoms 2) Xbox - Sony A90j - pass through (off)  earc - Denon…. Atmos audio delay  3)Xbox - denon - Sony/Samsung…. No delay Atmos  4) Xbox - Samsung Q80R(w one connect box) ( no pass through option yet  arc - denon … Dobly digital (no Atmos support) audio delay via hdmi / optical . I have already posted that all EU Samsung 2019 models with one connect box got an updated firmware to enable earc and pass through audio via earc. The pass through option is the part that disable all audio processing in the  TV and thus fixes the audio delay. I am open to any questions and pls let me know if my logic is wrong

I bought a Sharc from a guy in another forum for 100 bucks. I will report after work, probably 12-16 hours from now if this does in fact cure the atmos delay. I have an LG CX with Q850t as well as Xbox series X.

Make sure you set the TV to HDMI-eARC Passthru mode when you do.  That's the secret to eliminating the lag.

So it came late! Just tried it out before work, then had to leave. Couldn’t get it to work at first, no sound, then I realized I needed to move to the other hdmi port on soundbar. Seeing “DOLBY ATMOS” pop up on  soundbar on Disney, on Xbox , there is no delay!!! BUT…I have it set to Atmos/pass through on Xbox settings, and there is no “Atmos” label and I can change sound mode, which shouldn’t be available. So I need to look into this tonight. BUT, even with Dolby digital I was getting delay, albeit shorter delay. The delay is gone, I just don’t think it’s Atmos yet…any ideas?  So far a good start !!

So yeah, still haven’t gotten to “ATMOS” and no delay. If I set up everything to passthru, bitstream, just like you and the Sharc instructs, I get no delay on Xbox. BUT, it doesn’t show as Atmos (and am able to change sound mode, which you shouldn’t be able to do in Atmos) …even though it says I am in Atmos on Xbox settings.
NOW, if I turn off eArc on my LG, the Atmos scrolls across my soundbar and I am not able to change sound mode…but the delay is back. Which makes no sense, because I just turned earc off! So I should certainly not get Atmos, right?
I’m just curious what sound setting is truly activated when I get no lag, and the Xbox shows “Atmos”. I’m assuming your soundbar confirms you are in Atmos?
I do notice that it takes 2-3 seconds for ShArc to synch with everything on startup, that’s normal right? That doesn’t bother me, a couple of times though I’ve already forgot and for a second I’m like “something isn’t right” because I hear no sound but then it kicks in.
I know my cables are 2.1 48gbps but I’m going to try switching them around, too I guess. I guess the confusing part for me is how I actually show that I have Atmos when I take earc off, now. I’m using the HDMI port on my soundbar, too btw.
  Thanks for any help.
Oh yeah, all the dipswitches are in the up position.

I don't use a soundbar or ATMOS.  I use DD5.1 through the SHARC to my non-eARC non-ATMOS Yamaha AVR.

Ohh. Lol. Well that’s a whole different ballgame from what myself and airlung have been talking about. Oops
