Hi there,

I have this problem for over a month now.

I have a Samsung TV model UE49MU8005 connected to a Pioneer Receiver model VSX-LX302. Everyhting is well connected, as far as i know, TV firmware is 1210.8.

Tv is connected through a recent HDMI cable (UHD, ARC, etc etc) from the ARC output of the receiver to the ARC input of the TV (HDMI 4). Anynet is on.

When I disconnect the cable and connect it again, it starts identifying the source on the TV and it always says "unknown source" so i have to manually configure the tv remote. After it detects my Receiver, turns it on and off ok, and finishes the connection. Everything seems ok. But the problem starts here:

- The sound does not come out through HDMI from the TV if I select an app from the hub. Neither it does if it's connected to the antenna of the tv.

- I have sound from the cable box and from a PC both connected to the receiver.

- The receiver has CEC on but it the sound is not there. When I disconnect the CEC on the receiver and connect it again, it starts searching for CEC devices but the answer is "no CEC device"! Although the TV is connected of course..

- Anynet stops working too, it doesn't control my receiver when this is happening.

- This bug goes on and off. It works sometimes, other times it doesn't. It seems that theres is some problem in the TV that disconnects automatically HDMI CEC, and then it just doesn't come back.

- I changed cables, update firmwares, disconnected everything and waited, then connected again, called Samsung support and they just don't seem to know what I'm talking about... The problem always persist.

Frankly, I'm considering returning the TV. It's new and for the price it should NEVER cause such hassle.

This is about something that should work perfectly and is not doing so. And it seems that everyone at Samsung knows the problem exists, they just don't know how to solve it... (according to the countless discussions about this topic, at least at the US community..).

Please help!

Regards

Just thought I'd chime in with everyone else.  I just bought a 58" Samsung NU7100 and am experiencing the ARC problems after a couple days.  I managed to figure out the unplug fix on my own pretty quickly but was hoping it was a one-time thing.  Apparently not as I've had to do it about 3 times now.  In my case I am having the issues with a Polk Signa S2 sounbar/subwoofer combo.

About two years ago I replaced our bedroom TV with a Samsung and it would just "turn on" in the middle of the night (night after night).  After troubleshooting, we exchanged it and the new one did the same thing.  Returned the 2nd one and swapped it for a Sharp and no more problems.

I hesitated to give Samsung another try (love my phone!) and now am regretting my decision.  I still have the box, and am considering returning the TV and going with another brand.   How many chances do I need to give you Samsung?  So disapointed right now.

Samsung 55nu7100. I’ve had awful problems getting ARC working. Hit and miss, never remember which incarnation, then stops. Have onkyo 11.2 receiver with tv and projector. Tonight it just would not work, the tv sound settings kept showing receiver when I toggled the receiver on and off, then vanishes.  Hit the amazon return, had to phone them as they arranged pickup tomorrow!

Then I googled  LG ONKYO ARC problems, want one that works, and saw a final post that said they had used a solution seen, which was using a latest and cheapest 4K hdmi cable. Well I had also just got one but not used it yet, it’s long as my TVs on a stand with wheels. It fixed the problems!!! That was all I needed.return cancelled doh. So fingers crossed.

Can you please tell me how did you resolve this with Roku. Give more information as I am also having same issues with my Onkyo Receiver TNX 757 Receiver. I am not getting any sournd from the TV Apps(YouTub, Prime Video) from my Surround speakers. My Speakers are connected to Receiver and all my devices are connected to Receiver. Except the Cable TV Box and Google TV nothing else is working. I tried Amanzon Fire TV directly connected to Receiver and no video but sound is coming.

I have the same exact problem:
Samsung QLED 75Q65F (75") 2018 model Connected to an Onkyo TX-NR787 new 2018 model. I'm using a new 2018 vers Monster Cable Black Ultra-Premium HDMI cable with HDCP 2.2 compatibility and ethernet pass-thru.

ARC is turned on via HDMI-CEC Anynet+ Samsung TV SETTING Thru HDMI-4 into/out of TV.

ARC seems to work for 3-7 days at a time each time I disconnect all power to both TV and Receiver AND must disconnect all HDMI Inputs for a minimum of 2hrs. This allows the HDMI ASIC chip to drain power and lose/forget its settings.

At that point, I have to re-connect everything. Once all HDMI cables are re-connected (including ROKU 4K Ultra Box (plugged into the TV's HDMI-2 port) I power on the Onkyo first. Then I power on the Samsung TV, allowing it to auto-detect all connected devices. Once that is done, the TV will correctly auto-detect my ARC-capable Onkyo Receiver Connected via HDMI-4.

This process WILL fix the ARC Audio functionality from the Samsung TV to the Onkyo Receiver. However, it will only retain ARC capability for 7 - 10 days at MOST at a time...

Hi QLED2,

It sucks that Samsung has yet to solve the issue but it also makes me happy that I gave up trying and went to a different solution. I have written about it before and I do not represent the company, but I purchased a Caavo Control Center that acts like a Universal Remote on steroids. All my devices are connected to Control Center and then the Control Center connected to the AVR (Onkyo) and then a single connection to the Samsung QLED TV. I do not rely on the TV to do anything but display a picture and produce sound out of the TV when the AVR is powered off. I use a Roku for all the Smart TV Function.

The system works perfect and one Remote does everything without an issue.

If I were you.... I would look at 2 options.

1. Replace the TV with a Sony or other very good brand.

2. Keep the Samsung and get the Caavo Control Center.... the Samsung has a great picture. No doubt.

Good Luck,

John

Same problem I am having with my brand new QLED 65 inch.  I also have a brand new Pioner (Onkyo) Elite Receiver.  Samsung chat support said that they never had any reports of this issue! They told me to check the HDMI cable! Not happy. I am hoping that if enough people complaine, they will provide a sofware update to fix this problem.

Hey guys,

What I have found

I have a Samsung TV hooked up to the Pioneed Receiver.  I purchased the "Best" HDMI w/ Internet cable I could find to run between the tv and the receiver as well as between the Roku and the TV.

This works great unless you do any of the following.

Use Chromecase on the Receiver.

Turn TV (and all other stuff) on and off quickly

Power issues.

To fix it:

I have purchased a remote switch (not a dimmer) and when things go wrong I turn everything off with the switch and count to 20 seconds and turn it back on.

I hope this works for you. I personally like my band-aid better. Big problem.....these are both counter-measures to the root cause.

Hi AmericaOppa,

Samsung has known about this issue for nearly a year. They do not seem to communicate the issue to their tech support team or teach them to lie. I wish you the best in getting this fixed. You can read my work around above. I have not tried the CEC/ARC for at least 3 months but from what I am reading, it still has significant issues. However, I do not need this to function with my current set-up.

Thanks,

John
