Good morning friends.
I've performed the firmware update for my HW-Q90R soundbar.
Given that there is no official statement from Samsung with the details of the update I would like to check with the community what new features have been included.
- How can I check now the firmware version on the bar, to check if the rears are updated as well? In the past just by holding the sound mode button on the remote with the soundbar off the different versions appeared on the display.
Now it is not case. Now by holding sound mode for 5 seconds with the bar off it enables a new functionality: Test Tone
NEW FEATURES
- EARC functionality is enabled, this is great.
- Test tone: What it this for? It performs a test of the sound of the different channels, is it useful for anything else?
- Now in the sources appeared TV SPEAKERS, what is this for?
I would like to check specially if the update has included any update of the rears and subwoffer

Could someone help please ,
my q90 was all working fine I had auto update enabled so at some point the new update has happened now I have checked the values etc all that appears correct with others but I've no sound via arc I've tried everything new cables etc but just nothing works

Have you tried playing any other devices through the sound bar,
My Q90R also auto updated but is ok.
Maybe reload it via usb ..

Hi thanks , I've tried my Xbox plugged direction into my sound bar that's working fine if anything sounds even better and louder , don't know if it is but sounds better
but the tv it's self just will not go on to arc it will play through WiFi but obviously that doesn't give the atmos etc ,
so basically my sky tv box isn't going through the sound bar
and also the Netflix prime etc apps are not

I've reset the whole tv still nothing I'm trying to update it myself with usb but that's not working either 😞

I have a similar issue.
Whenever I switch the Q90R TV on it starts on TV speakers. When I change the settings to the Q7OR soundbar via arc it doesn't work. I have to switch to WiFi first then the arc.
If I switch the TV off I have to go through the same ritual every time I switch the TV back on. I have power cycled devices but that hasn't resolved things.
I have yet to detach the HDMI cables to see if that works.

I can't understand how you can have so many problems with these soundbars when they are connected to a Samsung TV, it is absurd for me that they are so incompatible despite being designed by the same company !!!! My q70r soundbar paired with my lg b9 works great and I see that others who own lg don't have huge problems like with Samsung. It almost seems that they are meant for LG TV !!!!!

Totally unbelievably I've messed around with it this morning and I said I'm turning it off and giving it up , turned it off for 5 mins and then it started bugging me again. And now it's all working fine
don't know what I've done to make it it working this time as I've turned it off and on loads ,, must have been the threats

Quite ridiculous that Samsung has made a soundbar that works perfect with a competitors TV than its own range of TV's that it was designed for.
