Good morning friends.

I've performed the firmware update for my HW-Q90R soundbar.

Given that there is no official statement from Samsung with the details of the update  I would like to check with the community what new features have been included.

- How can I check now the firmware version on the bar, to check if the rears are updated as well? In the past just by holding the sound mode button on the remote with the soundbar off the different versions appeared on the display.

Now it is not case. Now by holding sound mode for 5 seconds with the bar off it enables a new functionality: Test Tone

NEW FEATURES

- EARC functionality is enabled, this is great.

- Test tone: What it this for? It performs a test of the sound of the different channels, is it useful for anything else?

- Now in the sources appeared TV SPEAKERS, what is this for?

I would like to check specially if the update has included any update of the rears and subwoffer

I' ve also done the update from smartthings and have the same readings, except W-240.0. All others the same and the display ends with eARC.

Mine the same. Thanks for the tip to check firmware version.
So far then, the updates confirmed are the eARC functionality and test tone. No update for rears and subwoofer.

Exactly , eARC works, tested with a nvidia shield connected to hdmi to tv with earc passthrough and it plays dolby atmos and dts:x content flawlessly , also dolby vision works. Maybe the rears and sub don't need a update. In the last version (1008.0) the rears and sub were updated because they constantly disconect, this doesn't seem to be a problem with the new update so far.

Great job anyways Samsung, we waited for this update almost a year and it has finally come:)

I got Q-80R and I get W 0033.0 and S 0000.0

Is something wrong? My update did get to 77% then said it failed but when I check now it says I'm on the latest version

Also I got no Atmos on Netflix any more (I got Q-80R TV)

Help!

i don't know if the firmware numbers are different for the q80r , but i would disconnect the soundbar and woofer from power then power it back on and try to update again via smartthings app, if that doesn't work and you don't get atmos on netflix app you should probably call samsung for support.

According to Samsung Support on Twitter, to update the Sub and Rears, you hold the Down button on the remote for about 6 seconds until it shows "UPDATE". They did not specify, however, if this was while the main bar was powered on or off. Here is what they said:

I found this in case you are interested:

Strictly follow the instructions here very carefully, don't skip any small step. I had a problem updating the Subwoofer, it stayed at 0240.0, after a couple of tries it updated to 0241.0: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/tv-audio-video/how-to-update-the-software-of-your-q90r-soundbar/

Yes i have done that, it says update but only for a second or two , that leads me to believe that nothing actually updates, it only checks for a update.

Btw the 1008 update codes are these: M 0126.0 > B 1008.0 > H 0051.0 > FD 0040.0 > W 0241.0 > S 0136.0 > RR 0136.0 > RL 0136.0, as you can see only the soundbar itself has update with 1010.5 the rears and sub don;t
