I tried to connect my Dell laptop to the dex station and it would not register it or knowledge that I have connected it through HDMI.

As far as I understand the dynamics of the Dex the purpose is to insert your Samsung into it which then becomes the computer. 

Then you can hook up a monitor , keyboard and mouse. 

This set up is designed to take the place of a pc computer or laptop.

The problem is when you connect it to a monitor it doesn't do everything that a laptop or a computer can do. One thing is show movies on Netflix full screen. And that's not hard to change. Maybe I need to sell it on eBay.

Netflix works full screen in some browsers using desktop mode

Mine as well, an HP laptop couldn't connect with my note 9

Oh No..! 

Laptop has an HDMI Out hence it doesn't support any HDMI inputs. 

Its supposed to be used with projector's [Which requries HDMI out].

In case of samsung Dex, it acts as an HDMI out where as you need an HDMI input to support[Like monitors/Smart TV's].

Hey Joseph,

I am also having the same problem. Have been trying to check on with the Samsung S10 with my Dell Laptop, but am not able to use Dex successfully. Do we have anything missing other than the Samsung Dex HDMI to the Type C cable??
